🌱 Emerging Purpose

Therapy to help you feel more grounded, clear, and connected to yourself again

Do you ever find yourself thinking…

  • “I feel stuck – why can’t I find my purpose in life?”
  • “Nothing’s really wrong, but nothing feels right either.”
  • ”I feel depressed and anxious- I wish my life had more meaning”

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

You don’t need to have the right words

Many of my clients arrive saying, “I don’t even know where to start.” That’s completely okay. Therapy with me is collaborative, and never rushed. Together, we’ll create space for you to explore what’s happening beneath the surface and begin to find relief.

Imagine if…

  • You felt calmer and more in control of your choices.
  • You could feel like yourself again — not just the version of you that’s holding everything together.
  • You felt some self acceptance and that your life had more meaning and purpose

Therapy can help you get there, step by step.

How I work

I draw on psychosynthesis, transpersonal approaches, and integration work to help clients explore both their struggles and their deeper sense of meaning and purpose. Sessions are client-led and move at your pace — whether you’re processing trauma, navigating grief, struggling with anxiety, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

The therapy journey is about finding the unique path that helps you feel more whole.

Why Emerging Purpose?

Clients often tell me they appreciate that I don’t pathologise them, or push for quick fixes. My role is to support you in reconnecting with your own inner wisdom. I believe therapy should be:

  • Steady & grounded — a calm space where you don’t have to perform.
  • Holistic & integrative — looking at both struggles and strengths.
  • Deeply human — no jargon, no pressure, just real connection.

FAQs

Do I need to know what to talk about before starting?
Not at all. Many clients arrive unsure — therapy helps you find the words.

Do I have to share everything straight away?
No. We go at your pace. You decide what feels safe to share.

Can therapy help even if I can’t name what’s wrong?
Yes. Sometimes the sense of “something’s not right” is exactly the place we begin.

About Me

Greg Donaldson Psychotherapist

My name is Greg Donaldson, and I work as a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor in Brighton and online.

I trained at the Psychosynthesis Trust, where I completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and later an MA in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy. I also hold a Diploma in Transpersonal & Integrative Clinical Supervision.

Over the years, I’ve supported people from many walks of life through challenges both immediate and profound. Some come to therapy in moments of crisis, others out of curiosity or a wish to deepen their self-understanding. There is no “right reason” or “right time” to begin — therapy is simply a space where you don’t have to face things alone.

My Approach

I believe therapy is about meeting you where you are. Sometimes that means addressing pressing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles. At other times it’s about exploring deeper questions of meaning, purpose, or spiritual growth.

Much of my work involves helping people uncover parts of themselves they may have long kept hidden or exiled. When these parts are finally welcomed into awareness, they often bring a renewed sense of purpose, vitality, and connection.

What Inspires My Work

One of the guiding truths of my practice comes from M. Scott Peck:

“Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult – once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.”

Therapy is not about removing the difficulties of life, but about changing our relationship to them — so that what once felt unbearable can be lived with more acceptance, freedom, and even growth.

Consistency is important in therapy. For that reason, sessions are usually held once a week, either in person in Brighton, online via Zoom, or a mixture of both.
